Peter's current and upcoming activities continue to reflect his versatility
and breadth of experience. |
|
|
Another year and a busy one in prospect.
|
|
Peter continued in 2005 to appear in a number of TV shows, notably
Cruft's Dog Show for the BBC - and his appearance at this year's
show will be his 28th consecutive broadcast from the show, his
29th in all. He is looking forward immensely to commentating
again with his colleagues, Jessica Holm, Wayne Cavanaugh, and
Frank Kane at the world's biggest and most prestigious Dog Show.
His involvement at the show reflects his own enjoyment of dogs,
with four now sharing his home with him and his wife, Kathryn Evans.
|
|
Peter will continue to present some of the major dog events in the
UK throughout 2006, including All About Dogs (Brentwood, May);
The Royal Bath and West of England Show (Shepton Mallet, June);
The Wag and Bone Show (Windsor, Sept);
Discover Dogs (Earl's Court, Nov); and two events for Guide Dogs
for the Blind (one in July at Warwick, and a Dogathon in Bristol
at the end of May in conjunction with Blue Peter).
|
Peter was pleased last year to have teamed up with his former
Blue Peter colleague, John Noakes to take part in
Britain's Worst Celebrity Driver for Channel 5. Peter nominated
John, and his reward was to have to be his passenger and navigator
during the programme which took the pair on a motoring tour of the
UK from John O'Groats in the far North of Scotland to Land's end
in Cornwall. Or it would have done had John not driven so well
that they were eliminated in Coventry. Even so they turned up at
the final programme point at the magnificent Eden Project in
Cornwall. It was a great road trip, and they were fortunate to
be given a 1968 Cadillac (left-hand drive) for the journey.
Considering some of the other competitors had to make do with
a London taxi (Suzanne Shaw) and an Austin Allegro (Brian Blessed)
Peter feels that they got the Long Straw!!
|
|
Peter also contributed to a number of compilation shows during
the year - TV's funniest moments, TV's Favourite Animals, etc.
etc., and appeared on screen many times over the festive period.
|
The pantomime season came round again, and Peter was delighted to
be re-united with the Chuckle Brothers for the fourth year running,
when he directed them in Jack and the Beanstalk at the wonderful
Theatre Royal in Plymouth. By far the most technically demanding
of the 28 pantomime's Peter has directed, the show has been an
outstanding success, with tremendous reviews, and excellent
"word of mouth" in the local area.
|
|
The Expertise business, which trains corporate personnel to improve their
speaking and presentational skills, continues, with a number of major
firms using Peter's services. Several new projects are pencilled in for
2006. Peter also continues to instruct TV Presentation at the
London Academy of Radio, Film and Television. (LARFT)

Peter has served on the Board of Management of the New Wolsey Theatre
in Ipswich since 2000, and as Chairman for the past two years. He
will stand down from the board in March this year together with
the other original members, who were collectively responsible for
getting the theatre up and running again after its dramatic
closure in 1998. He is proud of the board's achievements in the
intervening years, and believes that he leaves the theatre in a
strong and viable financial position for the next few years.

|
In spite of being generously supported by colleagues in show business,
Peter has decided not to run his Charity Golf Day this year. It
has been run in aid of the New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich for the
past three years, with the very generous support, too, of
Seckford Golf Club. But sadly the local support has not been
strong enough to enable it to continue. Maybe next year. In the
meantime Peter would like to thank his celebrity friends who have
been eager and ready to turn up on the day - John Bardon,
Derek Martin and Ian Lavender from Eastenders, comedian Roger de Courcey ,
Larry Dann, Roger Kitter, Jack Chissick, Jess and Renee Conrad,
Gareth Hale and Roy Holder

|
Peter remains the President of the Canine Supporters Charity;
President of The Rugby Animal Trust; and is vice patron of
Dogs for the Disabled, and of Age Concern, Suffolk.
